Your Next Exotic Hunt Is Closer Than You Think

For hunters who want an international-caliber trophy without an international trip, an exotic hunt is the answer.

Exotic seasons in Texas are year-round, which means you have flexibility that a whitetail-only trip doesn't give you. If your window falls outside deer season, an exotic hunt is a legitimate way to get on the property and have a great time doing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all five exotic species always available?

No. Availability changes throughout the season. Contact a guide to confirm which animals are currently available before choosing your dates.

Are exotic hunts available year-round in Texas?

Yes. Texas does not have a closed hunting season for exotic animals on private property. However, available dates at Double A depend on the species currently on the ranch and our booking schedule. Call us to find the best options for your trip.

How much does an Axis deer hunt cost in Texas?

An Axis deer hunt at Double A is currently $5,000. A $500 deposit is required to reserve your dates. Lodging, meals and guide gratuities are priced separately.

Can I book an exotic bow hunt?

Yes. Double A welcomes both bow and rifle hunters for exotic hunts. Mention your preferred hunting method when you call so we can discuss the available species, dates and hunting setup.

What happens if I wound an animal?

An animal known to be wounded is considered harvested. Evidence of blood, meat or bone is enough for the policy to apply.

Do Texas exotic hunts require species-specific tags?

No. Texas does not require species-specific tags for the exotic animals offered at Double A. You will still need a valid Texas hunting license, and hunter education requirements may apply. We’ll explain what you need before your arrival.

Does an exotic hunt include lodging and meals?

Lodging and meals are separate from the listed hunt price. Our on-site lodge is available for $150 per guest, per night and includes meals and beverages. Staying at the ranch keeps you close to the hunt and eliminates the need to drive back and forth from town.
